Based on my research, ChatGPT can actually be a valuable resource, but it's important to consider the benefits and drawbacks of using it to write your resume and other career communications so that you make the best decision for your job search.
I get it, I do. Our company names are eerily similar, so it’s not like I don’t understand how people might confuse our companies at first glance. After all, we ARE both selling resume writing services. But if you look a little closer, you’ll soon see that’s where the similarities end.
As far as I can tell, my company, Top Resume Writing & Career Services, launched around the same time as TopResume, also known as Talent Worldwide, Inc. (which honestly just adds to the confusion). I can recall the first time one of the competitor’s customers called me by mistake. We spent a lot of time scratching our heads trying to figure out why I had no record of payment or communications from the customer before I finally realized this other company even existed.
Since then, I have added a carefully worded disclaimer at the top of each page on my website to warn inform visitors that we are absolutely, most assuredly NOT the same company, nor are we affiliated in any way. To put it more simply: we are two completely different companies. Period.
Unfortunately, people continue to mistake us. I even have two customer reviews on my Google Business Profile from individuals that have incorrectly confused their questionable encounters with TopResume with my company. And before you ask, yes, I have thought about changing my company name; but after 12 years of operating a successful resume writing and career services business that continues to receive a steady stream of referral business from satisfied past clients, it’s just not that simple.
The Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches and many in the professional resume writing community at large are VERY aware of TopResume/Talent Worldwide, Inc.’s (alleged) problematic reputation, but that’s not the reason for this post. With a bit of quick research, you can easily find what you need to reach your own conclusions.
The purpose of this post is to provide you, the consumer, with the differentiating information you need to separate Top Resume Writing & Career Services from TopResume/Talent Worldwide, Inc.

Okay, here’s the breakdown:

- TopResume: www.topresume.com/
- Talent Worldwide, Inc.: https://www.talentinc.com/ (Interestingly, Talent World is a staffing/recruiting company and TopResume appears to be a subsidiary, I think).

They also work with multiple contract writers (some from other countries where English may not be an assigned writer’s native language) that are paid around $20 per resume.
Top Resume Writing & Career Services is a Multi-Credentialed Concierge Career service where the owner (Kimberly Ben) works one-on-one with each client throughout the project lifecycle, from the initial consult and intake process to the delivery of customized career communications and job search coaching/consultation services.
There are many more differences I could list, but these three are your key takeaways. FYI – a few years ago, I wrote a discrete post, providing tips and guidance on how to avoid resume writing scams. It’s a quick and interesting read that I highly recommend whenever you have a moment.
